Simone Biles is the champion, my friends—and her latest Instagram post is proof.
On Tuesday, the star gymnast posted photoshoot pics of herself surrounded by the medals she won during the 2024 Paris Olympics and the past Games she participated in. And the post in question? It already has 1.9 million likes (and counting) with over 11.7K comments.
The first slide shows Biles donning a white mini-dress while sitting in a room encased in white drapes and flowers. In the pic, the Olympic gold medalist is biting down on one of her medals while the remainder of her medals sit propped up on steps draped in white cloth. While tagging professional photographer Rachel Tay, Biles also wrote in the caption, “6-year-old me would be proud.” Yes, she really would be.
During this year’s Games, Biles added four more Olympic medals to her collection with her stellar performance in Paris, making history as the most decorated U.S. gymnast with 11 medals in total.
Earlier this month, the 27-year-old athlete spoke with CNN Sports anchor Coy Wire and shared that competing in Paris “meant the world” after struggling with the “twisties” during the 2020 Tokyo Summer Olympics. “It was important to me because nobody forced me to be out there on that stage,” Biles said. “I solely did it for myself and I’m in a really good spot mentally and physically. So doing this for just me meant the world.”
While discussing the adversities she had to overcome, Biles added, “I dealt with them in therapy. Obviously, you always have those thoughts coming into the back of your head, but just trying to stay as positive as possible, going back to what I know, thinking about my therapy tactics—and it worked.”
