The potential next Fuller House spin-off will likely feature Aunt Becky (Lori Loughlin). Like the rest of the Full House cast, the actress reprised her role in Netflix’s spin-off series that debuted in 2016. However, due to Loughlin’s involvement in the college admission scandal, she was fired from Fuller House before the sequel show wrapped up.
Loughlin’s firing was the reason why Aunt Becky was missing in the Fuller House finale. Instead of totally ignoring her absence, the sitcom offered a simple explanation for this. During one of Jesse’s (John Stamos) visits to the Tanner-Fuller home, he revealed that Becky was out of town after she was called to go back home to Nebraska. He didn’t get into specifics about the shotgun trip, and the matter wasn’t brought up again, even as the family prepared for the triple wedding of DJ (Candace Cameron-Bure), Stephanie (Jodie Sweeting), and Kimmy Gibbler (Andrea Barber).
If Fuller House gets another spin-off, there’s a good chance that it will feature Aunt Becky. The Full House cast has always talked about getting along really well and they credit that for both of the shows’ successes. So in the event that either another offshoot happens after Fuller House season 6, it’s safe to say that most of the cast will be open to getting Loughlin involved to reprise Aunt Becky. All of the cast stood by the actress even as she was convicted and imprisoned for her involvement in the national college admission scandal. Recently, Stamos confirmed on social media that he continues to hang out with his on-screen partner, while Joey actor Dave Coulier claimed that she already paid for her mistakes.
Lori Loughlin is undeniably a controversial individual. Despite Coulier’s belief that she already paid her dues for her bribery case, that isn’t the universal sentiment. For context, Loughlin only received a two-month prison sentence and 100 hours of community service. Considering the crime that she committed, there are arguments that the punishment she received was far too soft. Involving Loughlin’s Aunt Becky in the next Fuller House spin-off will definitely draw criticism. That being said, between the cast standing by her and the core fans of Full House seeming to be in favor of her return, it may be worth the risk for the sake of seeing the complete extended Tanner clan on the small screen again.
Right now, there are no concrete plans for another Full House spin-off. Multiple times in the past, the cast of Fuller House expressed their interest to do it if they are given another chance, however. Loughlin hasn’t commented about the matter, but it’s safe to say that she is going to be asked, she would also be open to playing Aunt Becky again.
