UPCOMING: ‘Twilight’ Star Kristen Stewart Slams Hollywood

Kristen Stewart says Hollywood often praises itself for being fair to all artists, when in reality, Hollywood only prioritizes a select group of women working in the film world.

Kristen Stewart sounds the alarm, saying that changes for women in Hollywood are not as profound as people would like.

“It’s easier said than done. Look at what we’re doing. We’re making Maggie Gyllenhaal movies, Margot Robbie movies! I love and admire those women, but they seem to be favored,” Stewart said.

Kristen Stewart has struggled over the past few years to find financing for her directorial debut, The Chronology of Water. The actress told Variety earlier this year, ahead of the Sundance Film Festival, that she was no longer interested in taking on new projects until her efforts to make her film were successful.

“I’m going to do this movie before I work for anybody else. I’m not going to do anything else until I’ve done this one,” she confirmed.

Kristen Stewart said at Sundance that part of the reason she’s attending the 2024 festival is to find financing for the film. “That’s why I’m here. I’m going to do it!” she added.

Speaking to Porter magazine, Stewart gave no update on when filming will begin on The Chronology of Water, an adaptation of Lidia Yuknavitch’s memoir of the same name.

“My movie is about incest, where a woman violently takes back her voice and her body. It’s hard to watch… but it’s a thrilling movie. I think people will want to see it,” Kristen Stewart said.

After appearing in a number of films such as Zathura: A Space Adventure (2005), Into the Wild (2007), Kristen Stewart became world famous for her role as Bella Swan in the Twilight series (2008-2012) – one of the highest-grossing film series in cinema history.

In 2012, she starred in Snow White and the Huntsman and then switched to participating in low-budget independent art films, temporarily leaving big-budget film projects for a few years. The latest film Kristen Stewart participated in is Love Lies Bleeding by female director Rose Glass, released on March 8 in the US.
