Bella and the Cullen’s knew that the Volturi would not approve of Charlie’s knowledge of their clan, so Jacob sacrificed the secret surrounding the werewolves in order that Bella and her daughter could have a relationship with Charlie without having to inform him of what they were. This act alone is one of the reasons fans love Jake so much!
