Virgin River is one of the most loved shows on Netflix. Based on the book series by Robyn Carr, it follows the romance between, Mel Monroe (Alexandra Breckenridge) and Jack Sheridan (Martin Henderson). However, the couple’s relationship is quite complicated.
When the show first debuted, Jack was in a relationship with a hairstylist named Charmaine (Lauren Hammersley). Things are further complicated when after breaking up with Charmaine, she reveals her pregnancy to Jack. Now that Mel is also pregnant, things are bound to explode.
Charmaine has been pregnant with twins since ‘Virgin River’ Season 1
Charmaine is one of those TV characters who tests everyone’s patience. Although she seemed nice enough when we were first introduced to her in season 1, she’s grown to be one of the most hated characters on TV. A beautiful hairstylist who was in a causal relationship with Jack in season 1, she began freaking out after Mel’s arrival in town.
When Jack broke up with her to pursue something with Mel she began to spiral out of control. Complicating matters even worse, she revealed her pregnancy with Jack’s twins shortly thereafter. In season 3, fans thought Charmaine had finally moved on. She quickly married a hot shot lawyer named Todd (Patrick Sabongui). However, fans have learned that Todd is no prince charming.
Manipulative and conniving, he seems convinced Charmine to ax Jack out of his children’s lives. He’s also taken control of everything in Charmine’s life. Now fans are afraid things will go even further left when she learns about Mel’s pregnancy.
Charmaine will freak out when she learns about Mel’s pregnancy
In season 3, Charmaine and Todd were looking to limit Jack’s parental rights. Now, fans believe things will be even worse when the hairstylist learns about Mel’s pregnancy. However, since Todd is also clearly a horrible person there is some major concern about Charmaine and the twins’ safety.
It’s likely that Mel and Jack may try to keep the news from her for some time to prevent her from spiraling out of control or any undue stress being put upon her amid her pregnancy and her strained marriage.
“Charmaine is such a wonderfully complex and relatable character,” Virgin River showrunner Sue Tenney told Entertainment Weekly. “Everyone has loved somebody that didn’t love them back. She’s always going to be in love with [Jack], but she’s doing her damnedest to move forward. And then, she got a husband. We have a pretty big bombshell for her coming in the following season, if we have a season 4, that’s going to blow everyone away.”
