Lauren Hammersley is best known as Charmaine Roberts, one of the most controversial characters in the popular romantic drama, Virgin River. Hoped to be reprising her role in the upcoming fourth season of the Netflix phenomenon, she unfortunately won’t be posting any more updates on Instagram for the time being.
The actress told her 14.8k Instagram followers she would be taking a break from social media earlier in the week.
She had been posting updates from her home in Nova Scotia throughout the holidays, but confirmed she won’t be active as she ushers in 2022.
Her latest post features the message ‘I’m taking a social media break’ against a yellow background.
In the caption, she wrote: “Social media detoxing for a bit. Have a safe new year everyone.”
Her post was soon followed by hundreds of comments wishing her a happy holiday as she logged off from her account.
IG user joycelabbe95 said: “Merry Christmas and wishing you a Beautiful New Year!! Filled loads of Love, Happiness, Health and prosperity!!
“You are truly Amazing and cannot wait to see what you create in 2022.”
Delsey3181 wrote: “Enjoy the time out…HNY and hope 2022 brings all that you wish for.”
And travelandwritetoday commented: “Wishing you and your family a happy, healthy, and safe new year!”
In Virgin River, Lauren portrays Charmaine, the former friend-with-benefits of dishy ex-Marine and bar owner Jack Sheridan (Martin Henderson).
However, her role in the series has caused its fair share of drama by frequent sabotaging Jack’s central romance with town newcomer Mel Monroe (Alexandra Breckenridge).
Thankfully, in the latest installation she seemed to have found happiness of her own and eventually married her new love interest, Todd (Patrick Sabongui).
She announced the news when she stopped by Jack’s bar, but also warned him Todd had hired an attorney and didn’t want Jack getting involved with her twins.
They announced their sudden elopement and subsequently move to Eureka in the season three finale, potentially signaling Charmaine’s departure from the series.
Fans took a strong dislike to Todd, however, as he was demonstrated to be emotionally manipulative and controlling in their relationship.
He and Jack also had a nasty altercation earlier in the series when Todd advised him to stay away from their family, which could spell bad news for the town going ahead.
Charmaine’s future in the series is now unknown, and she may decide to return to Virgin River if her new husband keeps showing his true colors.
As the actress’s most recent updates have been posted from Nova Scotia, and not the show’s Vancouver filming location, it has been speculated that she may not be appearing as often, if at all, in the next season.
Thankfully, the Netflix drama has also been renewed for a fifth season, so there’ll still be plenty of opportunities for Charmaine to return in future installations.
