‘Virgin River’ Fans, You’re Not Ready for This Major News About Season 5
It’s been more than a year since the last season of Virgin River debuted. But the streaming service finally announced when new episodes will be airing, and it’s not too far away! Plus, they snuck in a surprise holiday announcement for fans of the series. Christmas with Jack and Mel? Yes, please!
First, the big news: Season 5 of Virgin River will be streaming on Netflix on September 7. Netflix previously announced a fall return, so this is earlier than we were expecting. That means we won’t have to wait much longer to find out the resolution to those season 4 cliffhangers (most important: Who is the father of Charmaine’s babies?).
The official Virgin River Instagram account posted a photo of a smiling Alexandra Breckenridge (who stars as Mel Monroe) with the caption: “The moment you’ve ALL been waiting for….Drumroll please. Virgin River Season 5 will be streaming on Netflix September 7th! I repeat, September 7th!”
But, that’s not all. The post continued, “Better yet… There will be a part two 😉.
Our HOLIDAY episodes will be released on November 30th.”
According to a press release, season 5 will be split into two parts, with the first 10 episodes dropping on September 7, followed by two special holiday episodes on November 30.
Netflix offers this tease of the new episodes: “Season Five of Virgin River features surprising new relationships, a shocking break-up, a difficult court trial, a heartbreaking goodbye, and a wildfire that threatens the town, bringing some people of Virgin River together while others tear apart.”
Fans of Mel and Jack can rest easily: There is more of the Virgin River story to come. The series has officially been renewed for season 6, although filming has been delayed to the ongoing writers’ and actors’ strikes.
