Virgin River marks show anniversary with throwback cast photos
Netflix series Virgin River has celebrated the release of its season five finale.
To mark the occasion, the show’s official Instagram account shared a series of photos with the caption: ‘Fun Fact Alert! Four years ago today, the captivating journey began!
“Can you believe it’s been four years since the premiere of ‘Virgin River’? Share your favorite moment in the comments below.”
Fans flocked to the comments to share their favorite moments from the series, which debuted on Netflix on December 6, 2019.
Virgin River has just wrapped its fifth season, with the release of two festive-themed episodes – and there’s more to come.
Speaking to Deadline earlier this month, showrunner Patrick Sean Smith shared that filming on the sixth season would begin in the first half of 2024, after pre-production was paused due to the Hollywood writers strike.
“We’re going to start as soon as the Vancouver weather allows. So hopefully in the spring is what I’ve been hearing,” he shared.
Dropping some teasers about the season, Smith, who joined the show for season 5, revealed there’d be, “another time jump from the holidays to when Season 6 starts”.
Smith went on to say that he didn’t see the show ending any time soon, and that Netflix should “just pick up season 7 so we can just knock seasons 6 and 7 and call it a day”.
“There’s no plans of wrapping anything up,” he added. “As long as these characters are living, there are always going to be stories to tell, and that’s an incredible opportunity for any showrunner.”
Sammy was a fix presence on Henderson’s social media, with his latest appearance dating back to April 2022. At the time, the New Zealand actor posted a cute snap of Sammy licking his face, writing: “Lots of you have been asking about Sammy. So here he is! Like all of us he is getting on in age, but still full of LOVE!”
Henderson is next to appear on the two-part Virgin River Christmas special, which he teased in a further post on Instagram.
