Virgin River shares exciting season six update
Virgin River bosses have shared some exciting news about the show’s future.
The official Virgin River Instagram account confirmed that season 6 is officially underway, sharing a photo of the show’s writing team together and back at work.
Sat around a table and smiling for the camera in two sweet snaps, the post’s caption read: “Thrilled to have our writing team back in action, diving into season 6!”
Virgin River is one of many US shows to have seen production delayed this year, due to the Hollywood strikes by The Writers Guild of America and SAG-AFTRA.
On September 27, the WGA officially ended it’s strike after 148 days, with the writers’ union agreeing to a tentative deal with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers.
As a result, writers have begun to return to work, though the actors’ strike remains ongoing.
Fans were delighted to learn production is underway on the sixth series, with many commenting on the post and sharing their storyline requests for the next season.
“Yes!!!! Welcome back!! Can’t wait for S6!! Lots and lots of Mel and Jack please and Mel being pregnant would be soo incredible too!!!!” wrote one Instagram user.
Another similarly commented: “Welcome back writers. Remember Martin and Alex are who make Virgin River. Please bring them a child to love and lets have their wedding. Lets have lots of Mel and Jack. Alex and Martin need to remain the leads. Cant wait until season 6 can be filmed.”
Thought it’s set to be a while until Virgin River season 6 lands on screens, fans can look forward to more episodes from the US drama very soon.
Virgin River season 5 part 2 drops on Netflix on November 30, with viewers being treated to some seasonal holiday fun via the town’s favorite residents.
Executive producer Patrick Sean Smith teased a “packed” two specials in November.
“They touch on all the characters’ lives,” he told Glamor. “It’s feel good, but there are also plenty of twists and turns to get you excited about season 6.”
Virgin River seasons 1-5 are streaming now on Netflix, while the holiday specials drop on November 30.
