‘Virgin River’: Who Is Alexandra Breckenridge?

Alexandra Breckenridge is a familiar face that has appeared in several popular shows and movies. Her career took off when she starred in the 2007 series Dirt. She went on to appear in shows like American Horror Story, True Blood and This Is us. The multi-talented star is also an avid photographer and is a surprisingly great voice actor. The 38-year-old actress is the niece of NCIS star Michael Weatherly — clearly talent runs in the family.

Once in a while, viewers stumble upon a gem of a show that they can’t get enough of. One such show is Netflix’s Virgin River, which is based on the book series by Robyn Carr. it’s wholesome and has a dynamic cast. One of the first things most people notice is that the actress playing the lead looks familiar and now you know why.

Virgin River is a laid back, wholesome series set in a small town with lots of interesting characters and feel-good storylines. The series is based on books of the same name by Robyn Carr. Having starred in series like The Walking Dead and American Horror Story, Alexandra didn’t have high hopes for Virgin River. She assumed the show would join the long list of Netflix series that nobody was watching.

She told Huffington Post, “When I took the job, at the time, I had seen so many things on Netflix that just ended up in the graveyard, so to speak. You’d see a show, it would flash by, you’ d say, ‘Oh, maybe I’ll watch that,’ and then it just disappeared.”

Boy was she wrong! Virgin River is a hit with audiences, lucky for audiences she gave it a shot after all.

“And so, during my own exploration of acting in the first season, I was just like, ‘Well, nobody will be watching this,’ and it was a great opportunity for me to sort of unabashedly lay all of my guttural emotions on the table and see how it goes — really rawly connect with this character on an emotional level and just kind of let it all out. It’s hard to reach in and pull those emotions out in front of a crew, let alone knowing that lots of people will be watching.”
