If you are looking for love and aren’t sure where to find it, it might be worth packing up finding and moving to Virgin River – with plenty of the main cast now themselves tangled in romantic drama.
No matter the character, a dilemma in love has crossed the path of all residents, with couples like Mel and Jack now turning over a new leaf to start fresh.
With Season 6 on the horizon, one Virgin River showrunner has stated that a particularly controversial relationship is likely to be “addressed” in future episodes.
With roughly a 15-year age gap between the two, Muriel and Cameron were thrust together in Season 5, with Muriel spending more and more time with Cameron at the doctor’s surgery. The two soon began to flirt, leading to one of the most unlikely relationships in Virgin River history.
Speaking to Deadline, Smith explained: “Cameron came to Virgin River saying he wanted to find love and wanted to start a family and for Muriel to not have that same desire, that can be true of any couple so we’re looking at something that isn’t specific to an age gap, which I liked, looking at the sort of May-December romance as it hits December in the holidays, if it’s built to last or not. We are definitely going to address all of that in Season 6. That’s all I can say.”“They are just two people that make sense to see together, she’s such a bright light, and he was definitely looking for love,” he continued . “There’d been a hint of a moment at Joey’s wedding — they danced together, and they were just having fun together — and I think it tipped off one of the writers in the room who brought it up, and I was like, I ‘ve thought about that, should we explore that?”
The differences between their wants in life haven’t gone unnoticed by Virgin River fans, with many taking to Reddit to theorize what will happen in Season 6.
“It’s not gonna last. No way. No how. Cameron wants kids. I don’t care what he says. He wants them. She doesn’t. It’s a wrap,” one Redditor posted, with another guessing, “She [Muriel] woke up one morning to a note that he’s gone back to his former fiancée because he realized that he really does want a family. I think Muriel will end up with Mel or Jack’s dad.”
“No!!! I believe they’re gonna be together and stay in VR,” a third user disagreed. “I love the pair together… Muriel made Cameron a better person and I like to think that we can change our wants as life passes. Maybe when he moves to VR his heart is so broken that he moves there looking for the ‘perfect way of life’, but as the months pass and when he starts his relationship with Muriel he wants to change. Maybe now, just find a good partner, love is enough.
“I think his love for Muriel is sincere and he will fight to stay with her despite the insecurities she thinks he has about kids.”
