Everyone’s wedding day is one they’ll remember for the rest of their lives but newlywed Jacinta Maddison-Williams and her husband Dan will definitely never forget theirs… all thanks to Gordon Ramsay!
The celeb chef teamed up with the bride-to-be to create the best wedding day surprise for Dan which left his – and their guests’ – jaws on the floor when she wrapped up her speech on the big day in June.
As it turns out, the story of how Jacinta managed to pull off the surprise is just as impressive and entertaining as legend Gordon’s improv in front of the camera to create the sweet personalised video for the groom.
Jacinta, who is an event planner and founder of Inflorescence Wines, and Dan tied the knot at Tanyard Farm in Dorset in the UK on June 22, and as a surprise for her husband, who is a huge Ramsay fan and often found watching Kitchen Nightmares, Jacinta managed to get Gordon to speak directly to him on camera.
She happened to run into Gordon while out for lunch with a friend at Battersea Powerstation in London, where the chef has a restaurant, a few weeks after they got engaged and after a little egging on from a pal asked him for a video.

She happened to run into Gordon while out for lunch with a friend at Battersea Powerstation in London, where the chef has a restaurant, a few weeks after they got engaged and after a little egging on from a pal asked him for a video.
‘It was funny because we’d just been talking about which celebs would leave us starstruck if we met them and I said if I met Gordon I’d lose my mind and then five minutes later he was in the window of his restaurant. I didn’t approach him then and carried on walking but as we were leaving we saw Gordon walking outside,’ Jacinta told EVOKE.
Knowing she had to shoot her shot, she continued with a laugh: ‘I had had a couple of glasses of wine so I had the balls to do it and we followed him down the escalator. I said “I’m so sorry to bother you but could you do me a favour for my wedding day?” not expecting him to do anything.
‘But he was so nice and asked our names and was like “we’ll start on me and then we’ll pan out [the camera] and bring you in,” he is such a pro.’
Watching the video, it’s clear that Gordon is loving the experience and he goes all out addressing Dan by name, telling him that he’s ‘punching well above his weight’ and giving him a ‘word of warning to get his s**t together’.
Jacinta said: ‘I didn’t tell Gordon what to say at all, I thought he’d just say congratulations and that would be it, but he had this whole spiel and it’s funny because people have been telling Dan to get it together [and propose] for years as we’ve been together for six and known each other for 10. After we recorded the video Gordon even asked if that was ok or if we should do it again.’
After securing the video, Jacinta had to keep it a secret for three months until their big day rolled around but she did share the surprise with a few people including her sister and Dan’s mum.
When she got to show Dan the video on their wedding day, Jacinta said it was a relief to finally have the secret out there and joked that her husband was surprised that she’d managed to keep it on the down low for so long.
‘Dan for a good half an hour after he saw the video kept saying to me “I can’t believe you kept that from me”, he’s very impressed and everyone went wild when it played,’ Jacinta said.
The surprise video really was the icing on top of their wedding day as Jacinta and Dan actually won their wedding through an Instagram competition and planned the entire day in four months.
Jacinta said: ‘A friend of mine had just started a wedding catering business and launched a competition to win a wedding on Instagram. We weren’t even engaged at that point, but it was on the cards, and we said “shall we just enter and see what happens?”‘
Jacinta and Dan’s wedding day turned out to be perfect, with the bride wearing a stunning Suzanne Neville gown and them exchanging vows underneath a 300-year-old oak tree and enjoying canopies outside in the good weather.
‘I feel like the luckiest person in the world this year,’ Jacinta told EVOKE… and we have to agree!
