Where does Colter stand with his brother?
Throughout season 1, Colter seemed certain that Russell was responsible for their father’s death. Their on-screen reunion raised some doubts when Russell claimed that there was another person in the woods the night their father fell off a cliff to his death.
“What Colter does is he finds people and he reads people. He reads body language. He can look at people. He looks into their eyes and he understands people. He’s a soul person himself,” Hartley explained to Deadline. “I picked that moment when Jensen [Ackles] looked at me, and the way he was acting, I picked that moment, just based on his performance, that I would really, really want to believe him, basically.”
Colter doesn’t have all the answers, though, which raises more questions.
“Does Colter think he pushed him off the cliff? Probably not,” he added. “But does he think he had nothing to do with anything or didn’t know anything about his father’s death? And he was completely clueless like Colter? I don’t think so.”
How often will our favorite guest stars return?
“In a perfect world, we’d see [Jensen] as much as possible. But he’s a busy guy. So we’ll see what we can do, and the same with Melissa.” “We don’t need eight or nine, but it would be nice to have a couple of times with him and a couple of times with Sofia,” Hartley told The Wrap in May 2024. “I think we can sprinkle Sofia in a little bit more, just because there’s backstory with Billie and Colter and trying to figure out what the hell happened to Jennifer Morrison’s character.”
Reid confirmed two months later that Ackles would appear in more than one episode, despite being booked on another show. Hartley teased that the second episode would include scenes with Russell.
Can fans expect Colter to continue running afoul of the law—and getting caught?
Tracker is quick to explain that Colter’s success rate in his cases is partly due to his willingness to stop at nothing to get answers. That means more run-ins with the law—some of which have ended with Colter in jail.
“We have a running joke about how many times Colter has broken the law. Our handler made a list and it’s ridiculous. My idea was that maybe at the end of season 2, my end-of-season gift to everyone would be a hoodie that listed all the things he’s done,” Hartley joked to The Wrap. “Like assault, burglary, kidnapping, all that stuff. But that’s already a long list. Every episode, he’s doing something illegal, right?”
What’s Justin Hartley’s dream scenario for a case?
“Part of me thinks I want to do a water episode, and then I’m like, ‘What’s wrong with you?'” Hartley told The Wrap. “You don’t do a water episode. Those episodes take twice as long, they’re twice as hard, and you’re underwater. But I think we have to do one, just because it’s cool. Yeah, I’m up for anything.”
