Where is ‘Bridgerton’ filmed?
Fans of period romance, period costumes and good gossip have had to wait a long time: Bridgerton Season 3 is coming this month, bringing with it a whole new batch of love, rivalry and intrigue from the minds of creator Julia Quinn and TV head Shonda Rhimes.
This time, after Daphne and Anthony have had their turn, the spotlight is now on younger brother Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton) and the adorable Penelope Featherington (Nichola Coughlan). But never mind the cast – what about the locations? Well, as usual, Netflix’s top-grossing show has scoured the UK for the most beautiful backdrops to add to its repertoire of magnificent homes that already dominate its world. From mansions to manor houses, from castles to palaces, everything is of the highest pedigree, familiar or new to Season 3.
Where is Bridgerton House?
The Bridgerton family home, which is covered in wisteria, is said to be located in Grosvenor Square, a posh corner of Mayfair, London. Filming actually took place across town in Greenwich, southeast London, at the Georgian Ranger’s House on the edge of Greenwich Park, which is now home to the Wernher Collection, a collection of more than 700 works of art. (You can visit when filming isn’t happening – but you’ll need to book in advance.) For the interiors, filming also took place at Halton House near Aylesbury, a 19th-century castle-style building that now houses the Royal Air Force Base Halton and was used in The Crown as the French country home of the abdicated King Edward VIII.
Is Bridgerton filmed in a real castle?
Bridgerton is filmed in a number of real locations, most of which are stately homes, including palaces and castles. While not the Bridgerton family home, one castle used in filming was Castle Howard in Yorkshire. This magnificent 18th-century building appeared in both the 1981 television series and the 2008 film Brideshead Revisited, and in Bridgerton, was used as Clyvedon Castle in Season 1, the residence of the Duke of Hastings.
