It is well known that New Zealand actor Martin Henderson was in Grey’s Anatomy on ABC for two years.
He was behind Dr Nathan Riggs, a charming love interest for Dr Meredith Gray (Ellen Pompeo) until he was reunited with his old love Megan Hunt (Abigail Spencer).
The real reason behind his departure was that Henderson’s contract with Grey’s Anatomy had run out and it wasn’t renewed.
But perhaps without his exit from the medical drama, he wouldn’t have gone on to do Virgin River which came out two years later.
Zibby Allen
Virgin River fans best know actress Zibby Allen as Jack’s sister Brie Sheridan but she did appear in a handful of episodes of Grey’s Anatomy as well.
She was behind Nurse Zibby in five episodes of season two, brought in as a temporary replacement during the nurses’ strike.
Her name tag initially read “Angela” but the character’s name was later changed to Zibby.
Annette O’Toole
In Virgin River, actress Annette O’Toole is behind the mayor and town gossip Hope McCrea but she did also feature in season nine, episode 18 of Grey’s Anatomy, Idle Hands.
She played Madeleine Skurski who was admitted into hospital after it was thought she had stomach flu.
It didn’t take too long though before Meredith realized she actually had terminal cancer.
Jenny Cooper
While she is behind Joey Barnes in Virgin River, actress Jenny Cooper is the horrible mother of patient Jessica Tanner in season 12, Bethany Tanner.
She kept getting in the way of doctors doing their work and refused to accept her daughter’s sexual orientation which led to the staff calling Child Protection Services as a result.
