Who is Gordon Ramsay’s wife? All about Tana Ramsay
Gordon Ramsay and Tana Ramsay have been married since 1996 and recently welcomed their sixth child
Gordon Ramsay has long been known as a tough guy in the kitchen on shows like Hell’s Kitchen, MasterChef and Kitchen Nightmares. However, he has a special bond with his wife, Tana Ramsay.
The couple first met at a party in the early 90s, although Tana was dating someone else at the time. They reunited a few years later and married in 1996.
“Gordon just loves teasing people. Absolutely love it,” Tana told The Telegraph in 2016 about her husband. “You have to know him to know what he’s like, and I totally know him.”
When it comes to their family, however, Tana admits she’s the strict father figure in the Ramsay household, which includes their six children — Megan, twins Jack and Holly, Matilda, Oscar, and baby Jesse. Tana told the Daily Mail in 2006 that she wants her children to be “independent,” while her husband wants them to “have their own ambitions in life.”
“I’m extremely strict with them,” she said. “I think Gordon’s mother thinks I can be too strict. I’m stricter with my kids than a lot of people, but I have to be.”
So, who is Gordon Ramsay’s wife? Here’s everything you need to know about Tana Ramsay and her relationship with the celebrity chef.
She was engaged to someone else when she first met Gordon
According to a 2008 biography in The Guardian, Tana was in her early 20s when she first met Gordon at a New Year’s Eve party. At the time, she was engaged to someone else and had no interest in the new chef, whom she described as “a total arrogant asshole.”
However, when the two ran into each other again at the apartment Tana shared with a mutual friend — Gordon was storing his motorcycle there and stopped by to pick it up — they hit it off and started dating.
She married Gordon in 1996
The couple tied the knot on December 21, 1996.
In August 2021, nearly 25 years later, Tana wore her wedding dress again and shared a video on Instagram of her twirling. She received several positive comments — including one from her husband, who commented “Omfg” and a fire emoji.
Tana and Gordon celebrated their 27th wedding anniversary in 2023. The celebrity chef celebrated their nuptials by sharing a throwback photo of their wedding day on Instagram. In the caption, he called Tana an “amazing woman, wife, mother.”
After nearly three decades of marriage, Gordon told PEOPLE in May 2024 that making sure they have quality time together is what keeps the flame burning.
“Date nights are important, whether it’s going to the movies or going for a drive. We have a little bit of time, but it’s quality time, and that’s really important,” he said.
They also take the opportunity to go on a road trip together. “We were in Nottingham two weeks ago. We visited Tilly at her college. And after walking around campus and meeting Tilly on campus, we went to dinner at a two-Michelin-starred [restaurant] in Nottingham and drove back the next morning,” he added.
