Two of Port Charles’ brightest young stars seem cursed in the romance department. Can Josslyn and Trina ever find happiness, or is heartbreak their destiny?
A Deadly Pattern
For college students Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy) and Trina Robinson (Tabyana Ali), love seems to come with an expiration date—and it’s never happy. Time and again, the men they care about end up dead, leaving fans to wonder: why are the writers at General Hospital so determined to torment these two?
The Tragic Death of Dex
The most recent heartbreak hit Josslyn hard when her boyfriend, Dex Heller (Evan Hofer), met a shocking and untimely death. Once an ally of Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard), Dex had just redeemed himself, stepping away from Sonny’s criminal world to serve as a police officer. With his reputation restored, he seemed to have it all—Josslyn’s love, a bright future, and a fresh start.
But happiness is fleeting in Port Charles. Dex was stabbed in Rice Plaza, seemingly out of nowhere. Though the doctors at GH managed to save him initially, his recovery was short-lived, with suspicions pointing to Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober) as the mastermind behind his demise. Josslyn, who has already suffered so much loss, is left shattered.
Josslyn’s History of Heartache
Dex isn’t the first boyfriend Josslyn has lost. Her first love, Oscar Nero (Garren Stitt), battled cancer during their high school years. The young couple shared sweet moments despite the shadow of his illness, but their love story ended tragically when Oscar passed away at GH with Josslyn by his side.
And let’s not forget Cameron Webber (William Lipton), her childhood friend and one-time boyfriend. Though he didn’t meet a grisly end like the others, he wisely left Port Charles behind, dodging the so-called “curse” that seems to plague Josslyn’s love life.
Trina’s Turn to Grieve
Trina, too, is no stranger to heartbreak. Her most recent loss was Spencer Cassadine (Alexander Chavez), who fell overboard in Paris and is presumed dead. Although she tries to stay strong, Trina’s grief is palpable—Spencer was her first great love, and his absence leaves a void that’s impossible to fill.
This isn’t Trina’s first encounter with tragedy, either. Officer Rory Cabrera (Michael Kruse), her sweet but ill-fated boyfriend, was killed by the Hook Killer before their relationship could fully blossom. Though Rory wasn’t her soulmate, his death still cut deep, adding another layer to Trina’s growing list of romantic losses.
Is There Hope for Happiness?
Recently, sparks have been flying between Trina and Kai (Jens Austin Astrup), a charming PCU football player. While fans are rooting for this new connection, they can’t help but worry—will Kai fall victim to the same grim fate as his predecessors?
Meanwhile, Josslyn is left picking up the pieces after Dex’s death. She’s no stranger to resilience, but how much more can one person take before they lose faith in love altogether?
Enough is Enough
Josslyn and Trina are not your typical college students. While others their age are joining sororities and attending parties, these two are navigating life-altering tragedies and mourning lost loves.
Fans have had enough of the heartbreak. Isn’t it time for these young women to experience joy, stability, and maybe even a love that doesn’t end in tears? After all, even Port Charles, with its endless drama and danger, could use a little hope.
