On February 3, the Chicago Fire star posted the most heartfelt montage to Instagram honoring her younger sister, Sarah, for her birthday. In the video, we get to see a slew of pictures of the two as children, plus them goofing around and having joyous moments together as adults. To say their resemblance is uncanny would be an understatement. They’re practically clones!

”Happy birthday to my baby sister girl who is in fact fully grown I love you so much wise woman. I can’t wait to celebrate with you in person,” Mayo captioned the post.

”I love this HBD SARAH!!!” Mayo’s co-star, Hanako Greensmith (Violet Mikami), commented.

August 14 marked Mayo’s own birthday, and Greensmith took to her official Instagram page to give her the best shoutout, sharing a slew of pictures of her on and off the Chicago Fire set.

“Y’all know what day it is…right…YES IT’S THE FABOULOUS MIRANDA RAE MAYO’S BDAY OKAYYYYYYY, I love this woman so very much. A joy, an inspiration, a wild woman of love! Happy birthday to our queen, Also beautiful even covered in soot and sweat. It’s ridiculous.” Greensmith gushed in the post.

In December 2023, Kara Killmer (Sylvie Brett) shared a behind-the-scenes snapshot of her, Greensmith, and Mayo filming Season 12 of Chicago Fire, showing their closeness by calling the squad a ”girl’s club.” See the picture here.

Mayo’s Chicago Fire character, Stella Kidd, is going through a rough time after her on-screen husband, Severide (Taylor Kinney) went M.I.A to investigate an arson case at the end of Season 11. He made a return to Firehouse 51 at the start of Season 12, but not without major frustration from his wife.
“I imagine that it was quite tenuous,” she told us. “It definitely was, I think, one of the hardest conversations and one of the most emotionally-charged conversations that they’ve had as a couple. I think she has a lot of feelings about him just kind of leaving her in the dark, and he feels really passionately about something [arson investigation], so we’ll see what happens.”

She added, “Ultimately, these two characters are crazy about each other, they love each other. I think that they both are committed to doing everything they can to make it work.”
